Starting the Search. Before you start looking, you need to know what area of town you want to live in. Location plays a big factor in determining if the property is going to be a good fit for you. Take into account how close potential listings are to stores, gyms, restaurants, and your work. You should also research about the criminal activity in the area to ensure you are moving into a safe neighborhood.
In almost every city, you can find booklets listing different complexes in the area. While these free circulars are not up to date with who still has apartments for rent and who doesnt, it is a great place to get a list of what complexes are in your new area. You can look at the location and list of amenities before you contact the leasing office for a tour.
You can achieve a simple but elegant look for your apartment simply by placing the right kind of furniture at the right corner of a room. Leave spaces for easy movement between furniture when arranging the place. Since the living is small, small-scale sofas and chairs are enough as long as you position them in a way that is relaxing for conversations. A small table or drawer would be perfect at the side of the sofa near the entrance.
Stuck with furniture you hate? No problem! All you have to do is find some great looking slipcovers. Many people hold off on investing in quality furniture until they buy a home, which is completely understandable. However, even if you are using a hand me down couch, that doesnt mean you are stuck with your great aunts 80s floral print. Slipcovers come in a wide array of colors and fabrics. Plus, they give you a chance to give mismatched furniture a unified look.
